Our Newest Employee

On January 18th at 2:55pm Kerr Consulting welcomed Kennedy Lane Kerr into the company.

While she only has a rudimentary understanding of accounting, Kennedy is a very healthy baby and everyone in the office loves her. She currently makes her way to the office several times a week and is a welcome distraction.

Economic Stimulus - Did you Know?


The Economic Stimulus Act of 2008 provides a “bonus depreciation” allowance for certain property acquired during 2008, including computer software and hardware. The new law will allow, for 2008 only, a trade or business to depreciate an additional 50 percent of the cost of software acquired and placed into service in that same tax year.

● Section 179 Expensing – The agreement increases the amount that many small businesses can write off to $250,000. 

●  Allows business owners the option to deduct the cost of new assets right away, or spread out the cost over time using depreciation methods.

● Bonus Depreciation – Businesses would able to take a deduction for half the cost of new equipment and fixed assets (this includes software) if purchased and installed in 2008.

Coming Next Week: Accpac 5.5

The new version of Accpac will be officially released on April 18th. As always we do not recommend any clients install until the first patch is released. This will give us the chance to test the software and make sure all bugs are fixed by the first patch.

Lower Fees on Credit Card Processing

At the beginning of this year, the Houston office switched from a "Big Bank" merchant credit card service to a new secure web interface offered through one of our partners.
